I visited Sweden in May and June of 2008. I left Denmark and entered Sweden via the Oresund Bridge. I spent a few days with friends in Bjarred. Then I took a train to Norrkoping and stayed with cousins in Vingaker and Orebro.
I began my trip to Sweden by staying with long time friends, Goran & Lisa Hedsund. They live in Bjarred. This picture, of course, was not taken in Sweden, but I like the picture. Goran's father did research into our ancestors and he found our relatives.
Lisa took this picture of me when we were visiting Molle which is a resort area .
If you look closely you will see the Oreseund Bridge in the background. Lisa's house is on the western coast of Sweden . You can see Copenhagen, Malmo & the Oresund Bridge from her house.
Several of our Swedish cousins live in Orebro. It is a very lovely city. To the left is the Mushroom. It is a water Tower. When you go to the top of it you can see spectacular views of Orebro.
Two more views of the city of Orebro.
The highlight of all trips is spending time with friends and relatives. We are having lunch at Mona & Gustav Olsson's house in Orebro. Jan Jonsson, Mona Olsson, Gustav Olsson, Bjorn Thysell & his wife Birgitta.
Dinner at Bjorn & Birgitta's house in Vingaker. Birgitta, Jan, Anne, Jan's wife, Gunilla, Mona & Gustav.
This picture was taken at Mona's house in Orebro. Jan Jonsson, Mona Olsson, Anne Fisher, Bjorn Thysell & a little bit of Birgitta in the background.
This is me having a picnic lunch. I am sitting between Svalnas and Latu. Svalnas is where my great- great grandfather and my great grandfather were born. They moved to Latu which is just a field today.
This used to be a Baptist Chapel. My great-great grandfather, Karl Johan Larsson, helped to build it. It is now a Bed & Breakfast and a historical landmark. It is called Skinnarbacka.
This is the castle in Vingaker. It is very interesting and the community of Vingaker has many functions there. I was able to see some folk dancing there. Bjorn's house is a short walk from here.
This is me in front of Drottningholm. The King & Queen of Sweden live here.
We visited a fascinating small country church. Birgitta & I are standing outside the church. Inside it is completely covered in wonderful paintings depicting scenes from the Bible. These paintings were done by Albertus Pictus in 1480.
